Meet the Speakers:

Dr. Baron Rogers is a Licensed Psychologist and Coordinator of Black and African American Student Services at the Center for Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) and adjunct factually in the Department of Education at the Pennsylvania State University (University Park). He received his Master’s and Doctorate in Counseling Psychology from the University of Akron in Akron, Ohio. Dr. Rogers coordinates and participates in outreach, programing, and research, across Penn State University and abroad around issues of racial and gender identity, intersectionality, intergenerational trauma, and cultural wounds. A researcher in men and masculinity, he has developed a theory on gender ideology, its impacts on African American men and serves as a consultant for community agencies and universities on issues of microaggressions in the workplace, and African American and African American men's issues. Dr. Rogers currently serves as the Racial/Minority Member-at-Large for the Society for the Psychological Study of Men and Masculinities.

Sean Harvey, MSOD, MSEd - Sean Harvey is Chief Compassion Officer and Founder of the Warrior Compassion Men’s Studio and the Sympónia Facilitator Studio. He is actively involved and contributing to men’s work communities around the globe and is passionate about helping men heal their wounds at a soul level to begin to love the truth of who they are. His work in personal, organizational, and societal transformation is inspired by 20+years of Purpose, Talent, and Organization Development consulting combined with having served on the faculties of Cornell, NYU, and Baruch College CUNY, teaching courses in the areas of Leadership, Management, and Organizational Behavior & Change. Sean is affiliated with George Washington University’s Center for Excellence in Public Leadership in Washington, D.C. His book, Warrior Compassion, Unleashing the Healing Power of Men, will be released in September 2023. Warrior Compassion offers a roadmap for men's soul healing as a catalyst for systems change. He believes men's healing, especially for those in the power centers and in hyper-masculine systems, serves as a conduit for compassionate bridge building across gender, reframing leadership models, shifting power dynamics, and reimagining organizational and societal systems and structures that will transform cultures.

Brian Cole, PhD is an associate professor and director of training in the Counseling Psychology PhD Program at the University of Kansas where he teaches coursework in psychological assessment, ethics, and positive psychotherapy. He is the director of the KU Positive Psychotherapy Clinic, which provides a free nine session strength-based telehealth therapy platform for adults across Kansas. He is President Elect of APA Division 51 and is past president of the APA Division 17 Section on Positive Psychology. He conducts research in the areas of men and masculinities and applications of positive psychology in therapy.

Dr. Christopher S. Reigeluth is an Assistant Professor at Oregon Health & Science University where he practices as a child and adolescent psychologist and teaches. He completed his doctoral training at Clark University and a fellowship at the Yale University Child Study Center. Dr. Reigeluth’s research explores the psychological implications of masculine gender socialization for boys, and he authored “The Masculinity Workbook for Teens: Discover What Being a Guy Means to You.” He previously served on the faculty at Pacific University and directed the Masculinities and Mental Health Research Group. Dr. Reigeluth’s clinical interests include boys and men’s mental health, crisis response and trauma, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. He is chair of Division 51’s Task Force on Boys in School and part of The Boys’ Club of New York’s Professional Advisory Group. He is also on the Editorial Board of Psychology of Men and Masculinities.

Matt Englar-Carlson, Ph.D., is a professor of counseling and the director of the Center for Boys and Men at California State University-Fullerton. An APA Fellow, his scholarship focuses on training helping professionals to work more effectively with boys and men across the full range of human diversity by understanding healthy/prosocial forms of masculinities. As a member of the APA Task Force for Boys in School, he is committed to educating teachers and parents about healthy boyhood. He is the co-developer of the of Positive Psychology Positive Masculinities model that examines a prosocial and strength-based approach of understanding men and boys. His many books address effective psychotherapy approaches for boys and men. As a clinician, he has worked children, adults, and families in school, community, and university mental health settings. He is the lead men’s health clinical researcher for the men’s mental health app, Mental.

Saed Deryck Hill, Ph.D. is a Counseling Psychologist who consults with national organizations and companies, school districts, higher education institutions, non-profits, and other communities to provide education and strategic consulting on topics like healthy and restrictive masculinities, supporting survivors, DEI initiatives, facilitation skills, curriculum development, and bystander intervention. Saed also advises the White House Task Force to Address Online Harassment and Abuse by providing guidance to the Biden-Harris Administration on how to apply emerging trends and research related to engaging men and boys in online gender-based violence prevention. For the previous six years Saed served as the Assistant Director of Prevention & Masculine Engagement at Northwestern University and managed Planned Parenthood Great Plains’ (PPGP) comprehensive sexual health programming from 2015-2018. Saed is the ECP Representative for Division 51 and has been a member of Division 17 (Society of Counseling Psychology) since 2009. In his spare time Saed enjoys psychoanalyzing trashy reality TV, obsessing about fantasy football, and cooking his signature jerk chicken recipe.

Daniel Ellenberg, PhD, LHEP - Daniel Ellenberg, PhD is a co-founder of Relationships That Work®, founder/director of Strength with Heart® men’s groups and workshops, and a principal in Rewire Leadership Institute®. He is a licensed psychotherapist, leadership coach, and seminar leader. Daniel co-authored Lovers for Life: Creating Lasting Passion, Trust, and True Partnership with Judith Bell, contributed to The Communication Path, and has also contributed to Mastering the Art of Success, Volume 8. He is in private practice in San Francisco and Marin County. He is a member of the board of the California Institute of Integral Studies as well as the Wellspring Institute for Neuroscience and Contemplative Wisdom. Daniel specializes in helping people create more resilient, authentic, caring relationships—including with themselves. He believes that people often learn best when they laugh most. He has led workshops in various places, including Esalen Institute, CIIS, Spirit Rock, IONS, Stanford University, and NASA.

Russell Kolts is a Professor of Psychology at Eastern Washington University. An international trainer in compassion-focused therapy (CFT), he has co-authored scientific articles on compassion, CFT, and various areas of psychology. Dr. Kolts has also authored several books about Compassion-Focused Therapy and compassion, including CFT Made Simple, and Experiencing Compassion Focused Therapy from the Inside Out (with Tobyn Bell, James Bennett-Levy, and Chris Irons). He has a particular specialization in the application of CFT to problematic anger, which has been applied with men in prison and Veterans’ hospital settings, and is reflected in his books, The Compassionate Mind Guide to Managing Your Anger and the forthcoming The Anger Workbook. Dr. Kolts has also delivered a TEDx talk entitled Anger, Compassion, and What it Means to be Strong.
